5 Dec Arrow Service — Thanksgiving

Thank You

By Justin Lim

Thanksgiving. What does it mean to you? When we look up the word thanksgiving, it simply means the act of giving thanks. Pretty straightforward huh!

Looking at our lives, it is normal to give thanks when we have seen the manifestations of His free favours in our lives and blessings we have never had before rain on us. However, when we have yet to receive our manifestation, is there still a place for giving thanks?

Yes, friends. We can. We still have reason to give thanks because when our Daddy God said that free favours will profusely abound in our lives this year, He meant it and will see it through right to the very last second of the very last day of the year.

Let us not wait till we see our breakthroughs, our blessings to lift our praises of thanksgiving to our loving Daddy God. The sermon started so beautifully with Pastor Benjamin reminding us that we are His masterpiece. Every single day, regardless of the pits that we are in, we are His beautiful masterpiece bought with the price of His Beloved Son. That itself is reason enough to rejoice and give thanks every single day.

What is it about a thanksgiving attitude that is so powerful? It is understandable if we give thanks for the breakthroughs in our lives. But to still do so even when we feel crushed? That just sounds absurd, doesn’t it?

Well, get this. A life of thanksgiving is a life of rest. It was shared during the message that by giving thanks, we are keeping our eyes on our Daddy God. Each time we give thanks, be it through praise and worship or in our secret moments with Him, we are magnifying His presence in our lives. And when we are so occupied with His unfailing love for us, we cannot but be at rest and our storms cannot but be under our feet.

It is not for His benefit that we thank Him for not only His unfailing power to help us but His eternal love for us that makes all things work together for our good. He doesn’t need to know that He loves us; He loves us more than we can even imagine. He doesn’t need to know that He is powerful and mighty to save; He chose to be our Saviour long before we were even born. His power to save is mightier than all our weaknesses past, present and future put together.

It is for our own benefit that we need to be reminded of all that our Daddy God is. Each time we give thanks, we remind ourselves of His awesomeness.

Beloveds, with our Daddy God, we have every reason to give thanks because His goodness towards us far exceeds our wildest expectations.
