I was at the wedding of Pastor Joe Purcell and Coach Joscelin Yeo. As the night went on, the crowd cooed over how beautiful the speeches had been and how much lurrrvvveee they were feeling in the air.
When I got home, I decided to spend some time worshipping the Lord when a revelation dropped into my heart. I began to sing and the first line in the lyrics of the song captured my heart: “You hold my world, in the palm of Your hands.”
It was then that I recalled the words of Leonard, Coach Jos’ brother, in his speech (referring to Pastor Joe): “He wanted to enter her world. He read up on sports, current affairs, and even went to the beach with her when he preferred the cold of Russia. All because he loves her.”
At that point in time, the warm fuzzy feeling came all over me. I knew then, that God was never content knowing us from afar; He was after our hearts, mine and yours, and He chose to leave the beauty of Heaven for rags on earth, just so He could be close to us. Not only that, He came in human flesh, so that He could understand the sufferings we go through as humans, so that He can enter our world —YOUR WORLD. Why? Because He wants a relationship with you. Because He loves you. And because He loves you, He wants to spend eternity with you, pursuing you to make you His bride.
So pray tell me this, which bridegroom does not desire his bride? Beloved, Jesus desires YOU, which is why you are His bride in the first place. When you learn of how much He went through just so He can enter your world and win your hand, it only fuels the fire in your heart to want to know Him more. Love is moved in your heart for Him because it responds to His love for you.
And it doesn’t stop here.
As you come to realise how much your bridegroom Jesus desires and longs for you, you begin to attune your heart to His Word, which says that His bride (you!) is all beautiful: spotless and without blemish (Song of Solomon 4:7). This is Jesus telling you that right now, you are perfect in conduct, beautiful indeed in every way. Oh, how much this does to your heart! With this consciousness of His love, the bride (you, yes YOU!) can only glow with increasing radiance as she draws closer and closer to her Lover.
That is exactly how simple the love of Christ is. A Bridegroom and His bride. Two hearts. One Love. One sacrifice. For all eternity.
