Testimony: Rest & Reign!

Submitted by Samuel Teo (Level 4, A.pple)

The first month of 2010 has indeed been a month of restful increase for me. God has proved to be ever so faithful.

I managed to score 80 marks for the A Maths (Additional Mathematics) paper, which has always been one of my weaker subjects. By God’s grace, I even topped my class for E Maths (Elementary Mathematics), even though I did not manage to finish the entire paper. If you think that’s all, you’re wrong. For the recent Biology test, I got a B3 grade, which came as a shock, as I have been always getting E8 for Biology. Since involving God in my revision, I’ve discovered what used to be a chore — learning Physics concepts and formulas — has now become a breeze. God also over-answered my request to pass my Chinese exam, I even scored an A2 for it! I also did well for all my other subjects, when I’d thought that I would fail some of them.

Studies aside, God has opened many doors for me. In my CCA, I was qualified for the Founder’s Award (awarded by Boys’ Brigade), despite not doing well for most sections in a strict and rigorous skills assessment test. I was also nominated for a leadership position in my school. God has helped me to manage my time. Despite the many tests I have to study for and homework to do, God helps me slot in time to enjoy breaks in between my studies. I am also able to spend time with God and reading His Word, and each time after doing so, I feel more empowered and energized to study!

Looking back at the past month, there is no way that I could have attained these results by myself, as I was overwhelmed by homework and deadlines to meet. But as Pastor Benjamin shared about “resting and reigning”, I really started to experience “reigning” over my circumstances through “resting” and allowing God to guide me. After taking on a “restful” mentality, and trusting in God’s unfailing goodness, I began to feel less stressed, and even started to enjoyed revision! Instead of fearing the giants before me, God has allowed me to face them with a positive mindset. Many of my school friends are puzzled as to why I am able to remain stress-free even when tests and exams are round the corner. Indeed, after I chose to let go and let God, my life has never been easier.

I believe that this is only the thirtyfold blessing, and the sixtyfold and hundredfold blessings are on their way! All glory to Jesus!
