I suffered from a menstruation disorder last year which caused me to bleed more than usual. It was a really tiring, dreadful and painful experience.

At first, I did not want to see a doctor because I wanted supernatural healing. But three months passed and I did not experience healing. I finally decided to see a doctor. I was fearful so I prayed before I went. The doctor did not give me any specific reason for the disorder. I was worried yet I still clung on to the hope that God will deliver me from this. If He could deliver me from my past problems, He could do it again. I partook of the Holy Communion daily, as I would do for my meals. But I realised that I had made partaking of the Holy Communion a formula, and I was partaking of it without a revelation.

At one of the Sunday services, Pastor Gabriel shared a testimony about a lady who was healed of a pain in her neck after practising the love of God for her. It was then that I caught the revelation that God heals out of love, not because of what we do. I began to tell myself how much God loves me and to bask in His love for me. I started to meditate on scriptures on God’s love and healing.

Two days later, I went to see the doctor again. I did not know why the doctor did not give me a thorough check-up. Instead, he asked me to finish two days’ worth of medicine. Since then, I have been healed! I was really thankful that I could spend Chinese New Year in peace, knowing that Jesus is indeed our Healer and bread of life. I am so thankful that God healed me just because He loves me. Praise God!

I have been a Human Resource (HR) executive at my current organisation for almost four years. This was my first job and I accepted the job because I am interested in HR even though my degree was in Business Administration. It was a job that most of my university peers would not apply for as they prefer jobs that were directly related to their degrees.

I began to doubt if I had made the right decision two months into the job. This was because my assistant manager told me that she was leaving in four months’ time and that I was going to fill her position. I only had four months to take up her portfolio which she had built over 7 years. I was taken aback by this and that was the start of an arduous journey. My learning curve was not just steep — it was vertical.

Looking back, I give thanks to God for this journey. I had to depend on God and that built in me an inner strength that I never thought was possible. Feeding on His Word every day as I drove to work was not an option — it was a necessity that kept me alive at work. I also anointed myself every day before I went to work. I have quite a demanding boss which made things harder, but God taught me how to be patient.

At the GenRev camp in September 2010, I spoke to Pastor Benjamin and Coach Jo-Ann about wanting to move on to another job. However, the problem was that I did not know where to go to and there were no opened doors either. Both of them advised me to wait. Honestly, I was upset because I was so eager to take flight and resign. I was taking on an increasingly heavier workload due to the high manpower turnover in my division without any additional support or replacements coming in to lighten the load. On hindsight, it was no coincidence that Pastor Benjamin’s message for the camp was on wisdom and listening to God’s Word.

I read God’s Word and Isaiah 52:12 resounded in my spirit-man; that I should not take flight and go in haste, but the Lord shall go before me and be my rear guard. I believed that my next job shall be blessed and that my steps shall be ordained by Him.

In December 2010, a colleague told me of two HR positions available at another organisation. One position required three and a half years of experience which I had but the job scope was the same as what I was currently doing. I was more interested in the second position which did not require HR experience and was open to applications from fresh graduates. I applied for both and was shortlisted for an interview for the second position.

After three rounds of interviews, I was offered the job. The last interview was with the managing director of the organisation and it only took 15 minutes before he stood up, shook my hand and said, “You’re in!” The very next day, I was scheduled to sign my letter of offer. I believed that although the interview process was not easy in the natural, God’s anointing on it made the whole process enjoyable for me.

When I looked at the letter of offer the next day, I reeled in shock and amazement. Not only did I get the HR position I wanted, they recognised the experience I had and offered me to be the assistant head which is a promotion from my current job. That’s not all. I had an 18 per cent increment in my monthly salary plus attractive flexi-benefits on top of my salary package!

I want to take the opportunity to give glory to Jesus who is faithful. Although I had felt that God had forgotten about my career blessings because I was toiling and seeing no fruits in the past, it was actually a time of sowing and preparation of the great harvest to come. I thank God for our church that preaches the gospel of grace and the importance of the Word because they build us up to have a confident expectation of good in our lives. I thank God for blessing me with wise counsel through the church’s leadership because if I had not waited, I would not have had the opportunity to apply for this new job. Also, towards the end of last year, God blessed me with a relationship! I felt God was telling me that He was interested in every detail of my life and is giving me a double blessing as I cross over to 2011!

During the first Zone service of the year, Pastor Benjamin did a detailed look at the message for the year by Pastor Prince—a year of His crowned goodness, taken from Psalm 65:11 which says that, “You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance.”

“Goodness” in Hebrew means “good in the widest sense”, while “abundance” means “to anoint”. Pastor Benjamin proclaimed that God was going to stretch our year to the widest sense, filling it with His goodness! Also, God was going to anoint our path and anoint us in special ways, such as new anointings and giftings, like we’ve never imagined before, all for His glory!

I began seeing how God’s prophetic word for the year is so encouraging and exciting. As the verse says “Your paths drip with abundance”, the reference to God’s paths shows how they are paths He has walked on before. This means that He has gone before us in 2011 and assures us that our year is crowned and surrounded with His goodness and abundance!

Praise God that this promise is neither conditional nor requires our self-effort. No, God’s work is complete and finished for the year. We do not have to earn or work for our good year ahead. All God is telling us is to hop onto His path and follow Him, for He has gone before us and said it is good!

John 19:1–3 tell us how Jesus had a crown of thorns, put on His head by the Roman soldiers, which He bore at Calvary. This means that today, we don’t have a crown of thorns, but a crown of God’s goodness surrounding us! Jesus bore humiliation and shame on the cross, redeeming us completely from it, so that we can fully receive the royalty and priesthood God has crowned us to enjoy the goodness and abundance of 2011!

Today, let us boldly claim all that God has in store for us this year. Let us stay close to our Daddy and follow Him on His paths, walking the road dripping with abundance and crowned with goodness!
