An Introduction and The Zone Magazine

photo_12So this marks my first blog entry on our new website. Lemme first introduce myself. I’m Rachel and I serve in The Zone (Ooh, it’s so great that we have a collective name now!). Ok, more specifically, I lead the publications department in The Zone, and I just wanted to give my first shout out here on the blog.

First and foremost, can I just say that I think it’s fabulous that we are all in The Zone. It’s like, finally, we don’t have to awkwardly refer to ourselves as “the youth ministry made up of DARE, Arrow and GenRev”. Ok, kidding. It’s fabulous coz we’re officially one big youth family. And not just one big youth family, but one big youth family riding the waves of grace, favour, blessings and miracles in The Zone together. Awesome huh! I think I speak for most of us when I say that this sense of something really great happening was so tangible at the Play! concert. Gave me goosebumps…and I’m pretty sure it’s not coz I was feeling cold.

I could go on and on about this, but I shall leave that to someone else coz…what I really want to talk about is The Zone magazine. It’s about blessy time we had a really fab youth magazine of our own, no? Our team of writers, designers, photographers and stylists all really pulled together to make this happen. It was crazy…photoshoots in stuffy stairwells, late nights spent writing and designing, crazy deadlines, gallons of coffee and coke (not together of course), the spellchecks (Oh! The spellchecks!) and all. But really, it was all worth it. And on hindsight, it was actually kinda fun. So glad we did this…

Our very own 'The Zone' magazine!

Our very own 'The Zone' magazine!

But at the end of the day, what’s most important is what you guys think about it. Did you like it? Not like it (I promise I won’t hunt you down)? What did you like? What would you like to see in the future? Lemme know, lemme know. I’m all ears…

  1. Heya Rachel,

Read your blog cause I thought u’re security Rachel. (silly me)

Kudos to the effort put in by the team from the youth magazine of the Zone.

Its nice, but would be better if you included Uniqlo discount vouchers. lolx

    1) But seriously, some music CD review would be great.
(better if its okay to do secular music stuff. Juice does a great selection on indie dance labels)

    2) Getting to know how and what exactly our beloved music min Bros & Sis does in a day. Practice on a guitar whole day till dinner time? Sing and warm up the vocals till someone shouts stop? Spend one whole day in the cushion room to (try and) write songs?

    3) More extraordinary lives of ordinary but transformed youths would be great too! (love the part where you have photos of CGs through the eyes of various youths)

    4) More of Pastor Mark please. We miss him!

    5) And yes, including a signed mini poster of Pastor Prince fold out will be the best. Beats having any other emo band posters…
