Last year, my work as a secondary school teacher had increased tremendously in both volume and intensity. My principal was feeling stressed about our 2009 graduating students’ poor preliminary results and constant lack of motivation. And I felt the pressure to push the students harder. As a result of that, I felt ‘guilty’ at the onset, thinking that I had not given enough extra night classes which I had done more of in 2008.
I prayed over my students and told Jesus I knew in Him all things consist, even my career, and my school. While my students were taking their exams, I was at MARKED camp, I just told God that I have to go to camp and that He would have to prepare me and my students well enough.
Just last Monday was the release of the 2009 ‘O’ level results. All glory to Jesus, 50% of my students obtained distinctions for my subject, 5% higher than the class of 2008, and 96% passes, a whopping 15% higher than the class of 2008. To top it off, 2009 is our record-setting year, with 32 students with 5 distinctions and above, when the sum total for the past 6 years was only 23. And we had an all-time high percentage of students passing their ‘O’s (95%) and qualifying for higher education (98%).
I believe that God works outside of time and the restful increase had begun way back. If anything, God has convinced me, that increase flows when we are at rest. All praises to Jesus, whose yoke is easy and whose burden is light!
