I had a really nice birthday last month. Birthday surprises, treats, handmade birthday cards, flowers, presents, unforgettable memories of joy and laughter, I was really touched by my friends. However, what truly moved me is knowing Who really gave them to me.
This is my 2nd birthday having known Jesus and birthdays have never been the same since I came to know Him. It seems that birthdays are wonderful opportunities that He uses to remind us of His mighty and generous love. Everytime I receive a present (birthday or not), I see it wrapped with love, delivered with a card and accompanied by a price tag. The card is from Jesus and the price tag is Jesus finished work on the cross. It is because of Him that we are blessed.
It’s like this: If a lady receives a bouquet of flowers from an anonymous sender, she feels happy for a while, but that’s that. The feeling of bliss is short lived, because she does not know who it is from or why she got it. However, when she receives the bouquet of flowers, knowing it’s sent by her boyfriend (assuming a really great guy), she feels really appreciated, happy, honoured and probably falls in love with him even more!
The same applies when we receive a blessing and we recognise who it’s from. Whether it’s a blessing of an awesome church, great friends, a fulfilling job or your favourite ice-cream, do you stop for a moment to think about who sent you that blessing? Think about it: what did Jesus bless you with today? Doesn’t your blesing taste even sweeter when you know that He sent it especially for you? Doesn’t it make you fall in love with Him all over again?
