Rest in the Anointing

You know something very amazing about David? God began King Saul’s life, who was the first king of Israel, with talking about his family background and that King Saul was chasing donkeys. But David was tending and shepherding sheep. David was among sheep while King Saul was around donkeys. “What is the lesson here, pastor?”

Don’t be around people who are stubborn like donkeys. Be among sheep who are teachable, you know, who know how to hear the voice of the shepherd. Because, God, when God wanted to choose a king, He chose one that was among the sheep. You know, King Saul’s story in the Bible began with who is father is. But David, his story began with God the Father, choosing him out and beyond his seven brothers and anointing him. David’s life began with the anointing, and that’s how our life should be in this year, God wants us to begin our life with His anointing. Because to rest, is to rest in His anointing, to be depending, to be dependent, on the spirit quickening. Amen.

When there’s an anointing, the Bible says in Isaiah 10:27 that “It shall come to pass in that day, that his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck, and the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.” So you find that every bondage you have, is because you have not allowed yourself to rest in God’s anointing that is on your life. There is an anointing on every believer you know… it’s not just on ministers, it’s not just on pastors like myself, but there is an anointing on every believer because Jesus, Jesus went to the cross. He died at the cross and He didn’t just die, but He was resurrected on the third day and He wasn’t just resurrected, but He ascended to the Father that the scripture says, “So that He might send the Holy Spirit, Your Helper, Your Comforter.”

And when the Spirit of God comes on you, on all of us believers, you will find that what you couldn’t do before, you begin to do. That’s what the anointing does. The anointing oil that we apply, it is not just the physical application of the anointing oil. It is an act of faith every time you apply the anointing oil, and say to God, “When I apply my anointing oil on my studies, I am saying Lord, it is not by might, nor by power, but by the Spirit of the Lord.” When you anoint yourself with oil in the area where there is a physical defect, or there is a physical disease, you are saying, “God, by Your anointing, Lord, You will heal my body.”

When you have a difficult situation, you know maybe you have a difficult situation with your sibling, you are always quarrelling with your sister or your brother, I recommend that you use the anointing oil. Anoint it on the person’s pillow. The next day the person, your sister, your brother will wake up and he’ll just suddenly feel that, “Oh I am so in love with you. I heard you want to go Israel, let me sponsor you.” Hallelujah! You know the anointing… it is amazing. The Bible says that in the book of Acts, the early church, they will bring the handkerchief for Paul to pray over so that the anointing will be transferred.

The anointing, somehow can be stored in fabric. The anointing comes through the anointing oil as well. Amen? So I want to encourage you this year, to take the anointing oil and see that every time when you are anointing your situation, you are saying that the Spirit of God is in that situation. You are saying, “God, you take over. I am watching. I am watching.” That’s what God wants us to do. Amen!

Hi Pastor,

I’m very encouraged by the many amazing stories that the sacred anointing oil had made possible, in Christ.

I’ve just started to attend NCC, I’m wondering how can I get my bottle of anointing oil be prayed upon before I start using it? Does it has to be a specific concoction of oils and essential as stated in Exodus?

Please advise me.

Thanks!

Hi Boon! I’m glad to hear that you’ve been blessed attending the church! You can buy a bottle of olive oil, and you can either pray over it yourself and set it apart as the holy anointing oil, or if you’d like you can bring it to the Welcome Lounge on Sunday and ask one of our leaders to pray over it as well!
